About the ProgramThe EMS Service Program's mission is to help organizations improve and sustain environmental performance through Environmental Management Systems. An EMS is a system of processes that helps an organization:
Designated by EPA as a Local Resource Center in the PEER Center network (www.peercenter.net), the Program has been working with colleges and universities, public transportation agencies, public schools, and municipal Departments of Public Works in a variety of efforts to improve environmental performance and sustainability. The EMS Service Program is part of the EMS Consortium at UMass Lowell. The Consortium provides training, audits, web resources, software applications (www.emswebware.com), and on-site consultation to help organizations improve and maintain environmental performance, compliance, and operational efficiency.
